Our story began in 1985 with our first restaurant. Over the years we grew and added Señor Tomás and Antigua Real. It is our dream to share the beauty of our culture through our Latin American, Caribbean and Spanish food and drink. We are a family business committed to the Wisconsin communities we serve; Hartland, Mukwonago and Waukesha/Pewaukee.

In 2018, Señor Tomas Restaurant was proudly recognized by 30West as one of the four best places in Waukesha County for a great breakfast. This honor reflects our long-standing commitment to quality, consistency, and authentic flavors rooted in family traditions. In July 2014, Señor Tomas Restaurant was featured during Hartland’s Neighborhood Night Out in The Lake Country Reporter. The spotlight highlighted our role in bringing the community together through great food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere. Being part of this local celebration reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting and connecting with the Hartland community.

In August 2013, Señor Tomas Restaurant was recognized by Mukwonago Publications with the “Simply the Best” award. This honor celebrates our commitment to authentic Mexican and Latin American cuisine, attentive service, and a welcoming dining experience. It’s a meaningful acknowledgment from the local community that continues to inspire everything we do.

First comes the visual feast at this Latin restaurant in Mukwonago, with rich terra-cotta walls, vibrant colors, and whimsical masks from Guatemala. Then there’s the breakfast menu, served daily with extended weekend hours, offering flavors beyond Mexico, including Cuba and Spain. Highlights include Crepes Española filled with eggs and eggplant in creamy tomato sauce, and hearty machaca piled high with beef, eggs, cheese, avocado, and pico de gallo.

Antigua Real Restaurant in Mukwonago offers standout take-out with flavors you won’t find everywhere. Alongside classics like chimichangas and fajitas, the menu shines with dishes such as Nopalito Salad with grilled cactus and Livingston Shrimp Bisque made with coconut milk. Taquitos Almendrados feature a family-recipe almond sauce over shredded chicken, served with adobo rice, fried plantains, and rusa salad. Breakfast is served daily, with a full espresso and specialty coffee bar.

Antigua Real offers a pan-Latin menu with dishes from Mexico, Spain, Guatemala, and beyond. Opened in 2006, it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with an attached bar and gift shop. Highlights include enchiladas poblanos—large, cheese-topped enchiladas smothered in a rich mole with chilies, chocolate, and pumpkin seeds, served with black beans, plantains, and rusa salad. Soft, sweet, tangy, and spicy, they’re unforgettable.

Letters to the Editor – 2007

The Fire Departments of Eagle, North Prairie, and Waukesha hosted Guatemalan firefighters for training, then took them to Antigua Real Restaurant in Mukwonago. Despite short notice, Sonia Alarcon and her staff prepared a generous spread of authentic Guatemalan dishes, giving the firefighters a true taste of home. Their warmth, hospitality, and care made the visit unforgettable.

University of Wisconsin Whitewater – 2006

Alumna Ana Alarcon, a 2004 UW-Whitewater graduate, is co-owner and head manager of Antigua Real in Mukwonago, a Latin restaurant blending Mexican, Spanish, and Guatemalan flavors. With a double major in public relations and Spanish, she brings hands-on expertise to the business. Open since April 24, Antigua Real serves breakfast from 7 am, offers free Wi-Fi, a welcoming café bar, and weekly entrée specials.

Antigua Real in Mukwonago is a standout Latin restaurant blending Mexican, Spanish, and Latin American flavors. Manager Ana Alarcon and her family opened it in April, decorating with folk art and vibrant terra-cotta tones. Signature dishes like Taquitos Almendrados, enchiladas poblanas, and vegetarian burritos showcase bold, authentic flavors. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served daily, with appetizers and specialty drinks that keep diners coming back.

Billed as a “Latin Restaurant,” Antigua Real features a menu that is mostly Mexican with few Guatemalan, Spanish and Tex-Mex items in the mix. Menu Spotlight: While most Americans cut corn fungus off the cob and discard it, it’s considered a delicacy in Mexico, where it’s known as huitlacoche. The gray/black mushroom is combined with steak and goat cheese then stuffed into a large tortilla and baked at Antigua Real.

We truly appreciate the effort and thought you put into our special event. All of our families thoroughly enjoyed the food. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to celebrate our Children’s culture by enjoying an authentic Guatemalan meal and listening to Ana Alarcon speak on Guatemala. The photo albums and books on Guatemala were a special touch.

Antigua Real offers Latin cuisine in an elegant setting. Antigua Real combines old and new techniques and décor to have an elegant atmosphere with the philosophy of providing unique and traditional cuisine and drink to people that love new things. Another big key for the Alarcons is sharing their culture with their customers, art, music and family recipes.

Ana Alarcon of Señor Tomas in Hartland knows tequila inside and out. In Jalisco, Mexico, “Tequila” means “lava hill,” and the agave heart is cooked, mashed, fermented, and distilled into either pure or mixed tequila. Supremo is sipped neat or as a Completo with Sangrita. Señor Tomas offers classic margaritas—lime, strawberry, raspberry—and specialties like the Blue with tequila, Blue Curacao, and Triple Sec.
